Participants: Carlisle Landel, Amanda Lawler, and Rockey Poeta
Level: Low. 2.25 on the Codorus gauge. Wednesday's rain must have been sucked up by the trees, because it is hard to believe that it ran off so fast. We had to push ourselves along the bottom in spots.
This was a lazy summer's day trip. I slept in, Rockey called at about 9:15 wondering if I was going, and he was delighted to hear that we'd get on the river "Sometime...maybe noonish?". I picked up Amanda at around 11, and we rendezvoused with Rockey down in Newark. We probably got on the river at the crack of noon. A trip of firsts: Amanda's first trip since River II, Rock's first combat roll. Amanda ran Snap Falls.
There is a lot of new wood down in the river, including a tree that fell across the Gorge, probably in the last week. The tree near the bottom is now gone; somebody has cut out the tree below the falls, and there is a big log in that one little drop that curves left and piles onto the rock that seems to give beginners fits. This last log has itself been jammed into the rock.
