Turns out that the first four miles of this hike have been completely re-routed because of the Palmerton Zinc Superfund (sitehttp://epa.gov/reg3hwmd/npl/PAD002395887.htm). Trail started out on the south side of the ridge then crossed over to the north side. They've added a few more ups and downs with an up close and personal view of the old zinc factory and the "cinder bank". The five of us decided to have lunch on the rocks with a great view of the Lehigh Gap. We then crossed the Lehigh and climbed to the ridge. About two miles in (about three miles from the car) dark clouds and thunder started rolling in......
