At a Lehigh trip at the end of May, I went up to one of the rangers to thank him for the work they do, since rangers have helped me out there in the past. He asked me to please write to state legislators. Due to budget constraints, the state of Pennsylvania is considering closing 35 to 40 state parks. I told him that I would circulate this information in my paddling club, and that we could also contact other paddling clubs in the area.
I'd like to encourage any WTC paddlers who live in PA to contact their state legislators to keep the state parks open. Also, does anyone know what office in PA those of us who live in other states should contact? And for anyone who paddles with and/or knows people in other clubs in the area, please spread the word.
