How To: Change your Avatar
Modified By Tom Halladay on 6/30/2008 9:20:23 AM)

Your avatar is the picture of you that shows up next to all of your Forum postings.  You can change this to be whatever you like (as long as it is appropriate) whenever you like.

The picture you use needs to

1) Be on your computer

2) Be small (less than 150 pixels by 150 pixels).

3) Be appropriate.  No obscene or inflammatory pictures

If you have taken a picture with a digital camera, you will need to crop or shrink it in a photo editor first, as a 5 megapixel camera picture is roughly 2,000 pixels by 2,0000 pixels.

Once you have your picture ready, here is how you change your avatar:

  1. Go to the Forums page
  2. Click on the Gear icon "My Settings" at the top of the light blue area
  3. Click the "+" next to User Settings to expand that section
  4. To the right of "Avatar" click "Browse"
  5. Locate the image on your local computer.  For Example:  "C:\My Pictures\GreatAvatarPic.jpg"
  6. Click "Upload New File"  (This may take a few seconds.  When it is done, your picture should show up on the page)
  7. IMPORTANT: Click "Update" at the bottom.

Even if you can see the image on the website, if you do not click Update, it will not save it to your profile.

Congratulations!  Now you have put a face (or boat/bike/skis) next to your words
