Delaware State Parks has decided to officially close the David English Loop to all users on October 9, 2009. There should be signs posted at all the entrances indicating the trail is closed until further notice. So please stay off the trail unless working with an authorized trail maintenance group. Enforcement of this closure is possible.
Mechanized work will probably start tomorrow and continue through next week. The park needs volunteers to help re-open the trail. Remember the trail will not re-open until all repairs are done. So if you want the trail to open sooner, please volunteer a little time to help expedite the trail repair. Contact Jim Ireland at 302 632 2816 for meeting times and places through Friday October 16, 2009. On October 17, 2009 the Delaware Trail Spinners monthly work party will be focusing on the David English Loop. We meet in McGlynn’s parking lot off Polly Drummond at 9 AM. We’ll need approximately 25 volunteers on Saturday to re-open the trail. Otherwise the trail closure may extend through the following weekend.
Thanks
Jim Ireland
