2009-2010 Paddlers Board: Volunteers needed!

Volunteers needed for the Paddlers’ Board
Last year we formed the Paddlers’ Board to help distribute the decision making and administrative tasks for the Paddlers Section. It’s time to assemble a new Board. So that new people can be involved and veterans don’t end up repeating their jobs indefinitely, we’re opening up all positions for volunteers each year. Incumbents are urged to volunteer for their old position if they want it, but we need new help too. If there’s duplication we can have an election if needed. Don’t think you need a lot of experience (on the water or off ) to help!   We have 11 voting members; all meetings are open to everyone. You must be a member of the WTC to be on the Board. This past year we met about every 2 months; this could be changed by the new Board. We recently updated the website with minutes to the meetings, if you’d like to see what we addressed.
The goal is to get the new Board in place to convene the November 16 meeting. That meeting will begin the planning process for next year’s training.

2009-2010 WTC Paddlers Section Board Positions

 

Chairperson
  • Coordination of Board Activities
  • Schedule and Lead Board Meetings
  • Solicit Agenda items and prepare Agenda for each meeting
  • WTC Council Liaison
  • Oversee General Paddlers Section Health
Co-Chairperson
  • Responsible for publishing meeting minutes after approval
  • Back-up for the Chairperson
  • Liaison between WTC and ACA/AW
  • Track WTC membership Info
Head Instructor
  • Organize Training Groups
  • Training Event Leadership Logistics
  • Facilitate Curriculum Revisions
  • Coordinate Instructor and Assistant Training
  • Facilitate Paddler Skill Evaluation
  • Verify Credentials of Instructors
Training Coordinator
  • Coordinate Training Meetings / Planning Sessions
  • Coordinate Training Events 
  • Manage Training Registrations
  • Facilitate Paddler Skill Evaluation
  • Coordinate Training Follow-ups
  • Additional Touring Training Coordination
Safety & Insurance Coordinator
  • Establish & Maintain Safety Policies
  • Ensure Safety Adherence
  • Handle Insurance (with the ACA & 3rd Party Organizations) and course reporting
  • Facilitate Safety Training & Rescue Clinics
  • Arrange for First Aid and CPR classes


Treasurer

Ahem, boys... With the exception of Dave Sibley (who is widely viewed as one of the girls anyway. Sorry Dave. Its true), all of the volunteers so far have been the ladies. And I make it one more: I'll fill in anywhere I'm needed and think I can handle any of the open jobs, with the obvious exception of head instructor. :)
