Trip Coordinator - Glenn Petrucci
Meeting Time - 9:30 am
We will meet at the state park office on Tuckahoe Lake and put-in to paddle through the densely forested creek that should be clear of any deadfalls. If someone brings a handsaw, in addition to me, that would be considered good planning. The rangers do navigate the creek often to take care of any obstruction issues that may come up. We will paddle to the Hillsboro public access ramp which is just outside of the park's jurisdiction. We can have lunch there. This leg is 5.3 miles. We can opt to venture further down as there is another access point another 2.5 miles south of Hillsboro. I will leave that up to the group's discretion. The creek is narrow until Hillsboro. It has a good current, although we've had a lack of rain this summer so that may not be much of an issue. I'm bringing my 12' rec. boat. The creek below Hillsboro is going through marsh is slowly becoming tidal influenced. The address of the park is 13070 Crouse Mill Road Queen Anne Md. 21657. The directions below are if you are coming from Newark. Take De. 896 south to 301 and cross into Md.
