Trip Coordinator - Glenn Petrucci

We will put-in at Dover Forge which is a state canoe access site in Double Trouble State Park. We have a couple of options for lunch spots within the park, approximately 2 or 3 hours into the paddle. We will have to portage one dam that is clearly marked. We will paddle to either Western Blvd or an hour further to William Hebrew Park. The paddle is listed as being 5 to 6 hours depending on the take-out. We will determine that at the put-in. We will meet at 10 and then shuttle to the designated take-out.

The paddle is mostly an open paddle that should not be too challenging for any beginners. I would bring a rec or ww boat if possible as the upper reaches are a little twisty. Definitely bring sunscreen, hat, and shades as well as water, snack, and lunch. As there has not been normal rainfall during the late summer we will be monitoring the water levels and may have to make an adjustment to this trip's plans.

The Cedar Creek is, in my opinion, the most visually diverse of the Pine Barren rivers. The water is clear and not the heavily tannic water that you find in Wharton.

Directions from Delaware- Take 295 north into New Jersey until you reach exit 34 (Route 70). Go east to Marlton, Medford and Red Lion. Continue into Ocean County until you come to an intersection with 539 and 530. Take 530East/539South. Follow 530 East for 7.7miles to traffic signal at Dover Road. As 530 bears to the left, go straight onto 618East- Pinewald Keswick Road. Follow this about 2.5 miles to traffic signal at Double Trouble Road. Park entrance is on the right.

From the GSPNorthbound -Take exit 77. Turn left onto 618 West, go under GSP and travel 1/2 mile on Pinewald Keswick Road to traffic signal at DoubleTrouble Road. Park is on the right.
