This is the un-official post for the un-official Ohiopyle Falls Fest trip, August 23'rd / 24'th.

The important stuff:

What: 10th Annual American Whitewater Over The Falls Festival 2008   We will also be paddling the Yough on the Sunday

Where: Yough River / Ohiopyle, PA

When: August 23'rd & 24'th   (Probably driving out friday night after work & driving home late sunday afternoon)

Who:  Everyone & Anyone is welcome to come and spectate.  The event organizers manage who can/can't run the falls, but generally speeking anyone who is class III or above is capable of running the falls.  This year, there will be at least a half dozen to dozen of us WTC folks traveling down, and at least 4 people I know of running the falls

Why: Ohiopyle Falls, while being an 18 foot drop, is a relatively mild waterfall, posing minimal consequences to capable paddlers.  It's also a blast.  And don't forget the festival, a chance to get gear, drink, and be merry.

This is not an official WTC trip.  A couple of us (Me, Steve, Rick, Matt P, others) are going down to run the falls.  Some people will be going just to hang out and/or run the Yough on the Sunday after falls fest. 

I have secured a limited amount of launch permits for Sunday, so I need to know ASAP who intends to paddle with us.  I have also reserved sweet in-town accomodations.  If anyone wants to get in on that, I also need to know that ASAP.

Peter Bernstein wrote Who is going ? I didn't realize this was scheduled. Did anyone reserve some sites at the campground.

So far the roster is:

Your Matt also said he would be there for the falls fest with Brian, we plan on joining up.  We will have ample photo/video support from significant others (Katie & Fiona)

Some of us have already made reservations at the Falls Market so that we could get sloshed safely after falls fest without having to drive anywhere.  At this point it's floor/cot only spaces left.
