Greetings and salutations compadres,
As we are all planning for the summer paddling season, now is the time to sign up for the Labor Day Yough Trip in beautiful Ohiopyle State Park. The most dynamic and intrepid paddler will want to avail themselves of a lovely 5 hour drive to the park on Friday, September 4th and partake in the ritualistic Loop Run. After consuming deep-fried goodness at the Firefly, you will then adjourn to your fantastic reserved camping accomodations at the State Park. I have a feeling your site will be "Firry". Awakening at dawn the following day, you will be wisked down the mountainside for an excellent paddling trip starting with Entrance and ending at Brunners Run. Along the way, you will be challenged by such rapids as Cucumber, Swimmers, Dimples, Bottle of Wine and others. Perhaps you will even have the (mis)fortune of getting spanked at my old nemesis, Piddly. Or better yet, if the level is 2 foot, we can have a go at Decapitaion Rock (don't let the name fool you... you know feature names NEVER match the rock). After basking in the odors of our fellow paddlers on the bus trip to the parking lot, we will return to our campsite to relax and refresh so we can do the same thing the next day. And the next. Or maybe just the Loop. I haven't decided yet. But that's the good part. You get to make your own decision. Anyway, the essential details follow.
Labor Day Yough Trip: Friday September 4th to Monday September 7th (3 nights camping) $35.00 Launch Permits for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday $9.00 Total cost $44.00
Please mail your check to: Bernard Lanoue, 1300 Lore Ave, Wilmington, DE 19809
I plan on calling in the reservations in mid February. I will be making reservations for those people who send me money. I will make reasonable accomodations, if possible. If you have any questions, please ask. When sending your check I need to know how many people, how many permits (which days) and if you plan on sharing a tent. Costs for camping ($25.00/night/site) are number of sites times nights divided by number of people. When people share tents, the costs are reduced and you might get a refund. I prefer early permits, so don't expect to sleep till noon. If you do not want to commit now, all camping and permit information is on the DCNR website so you can sign yourself up later, if you would rather. I will probably supply a sack of charcoal for one evening meal in the campground. If you any other special needs or desires, I suggest you call your Mom.
Thanks and Hope to see most of you there
Bern
