Modified By Tom Halladay on 6/17/2008 12:49:22 PM)

June 21 - Beer & Gear Fest @ Wilderness Voyaguers

June 22 - Ohiopyle Falls Clinic - Chance to get instruction on waterfall running, and a chance to run the Ohio Pyle falls (18 feet high, class IV)

American Whitewater - Ohiopyle Falls description

Video of Tom Halladay, Steve Cope, Brad Stine doing the falls last year

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBwV9MBZSxY

Current Trip Roster:

Kayakers

Tom, Steve, Rick, Juan, Matt Pinciotti

Guests

Katie, Fiona, Dave Smith, Rockey, Juan's son, Juan's friend, Matt P's Friend

Trip Description:

This trip is open to anyone.  Even if you aren't able to paddle the falls, this is a great opportunity to get gear cheap, and watch some excellent paddlers do amazing tricks over the waterfalls, and watch fellow WTC paddlers try their best to hold on for dear life :)  Ohiopyle is a beautiful town, and a trip there would be fun for anyone.

Saturday - We will hang out in Ohiopyle, check out the sales & event.  Visit the local area

Sunday - Those who can will run the falls, those who can't will cheer them on & take lots of pictures & videos.

I will be organizing the trip.  If you want to go, please post here.  OhioPyle is roughly 4.5 hours from Wilmington, DE.  Most people will probably head out Friday evening, return late Sunday evening.  I will post exact logistics later.  Carpooling is heavily encouraged!

If you are going on this trip, you need to make your own accomodations.  The website to reserve a camping spot in OhioPyle is :  https://www.pa.reserveworld.com   (Park:  OhioPyle / Kentuck Campground)

I have reserved campsite #80 for myself.

So far here are the people I know are going:

Me & Katie

Steve & Fiona

Juan & his son

Dave Smith

Bob Swain (Maybe)

Rick Murphy (Maybe)

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone had an open space for a car for the weekend. I'll be paddling the Upper on Friday and Saturday, but coming back for the festival and falls. Anyway, if anyone has a spare spot for parking, it would be much appreciated. If not, I'll definitely still see you around.

Between all of us, we should have plenty of extra space.  You're welcome to a spare spot.

Re: Ohio Pyle - Beer & Gear Fest + Waterfalls Running Clinic - June 21 & 22

UPDATE!

There is a SMALL chance that the waterlevel will not be acceptable for running the falls on Sunday.  The decision for that will be made early sunday morning by the powers that be.

To ensure that we have a fun time on Sunday regardless of the waterlevel;  I have made backup reservations to paddle the Lower Yough.  For those who are not able to kayak the Yough yet (Katie, Fiona, Dave, Rockey, Juan's son & Friend, Matt Pinciotti's friend) I have also made reservations through a very gracious outfitter to rent a 4-man and 2-man shredder, as well as a 1-man ducky.  This would enable our entire group to paddle the Lower Yough safely.

Again, this is a backup plan.  These plans are going to be fluid, but rest assured, fun will be had by all :)

Important:  Everyone should be bringing paddling clothing with them this weekend regardless of whether or not your kayaking, just in case.
