For the March 15, 2017 Milers Hike four brave individuals appeared in the very windy and cold Fair Hill parking lot 3, eager to test their sprite. The temperature was 21 degrees at the start and the ground was covered with a 3-4 inch coating of hard crusty snow. As it turned out most of the hike was out of the wind and everyone one were very comfortable. Twelve miles of trail, without a rock or tree to trip over, was travel. Some trails normally avoided, because of standing water, were used as all was frozen. For a short time when the sun was out it was a wonderland of sparking glass from a coating of ice on the trees and grass, however, at time the sun was cloud covered and snow was lightly falling or swirling. Sometimes on the trail the hikers had to duct under or walk around trees limb or whole small trees and bushes bowed over from the weight of ice. What a great adventure many missed!
