Sunday Hikes

Please meet and be ready to hike promptly at 10:00 a.m. at Gordon’s Pond State Beach at the picnic pavilion at the far end of the parking lot. We’ll head across the marsh on the boardwalk, over some dunes, up to the lookout tower and come back along the beach. The hike will be 4-8 miles depending on the weather. Afterwards, we’ll have lunch at the new Dogfish Head Brew and Eats in Rehoboth Beach. If you're interested, after lunch we can walk (about 2 miles roundtrip) on the new trail from the entrance to Henlopen to the Delaware and Rehoboth canal.

Driving Directions: Follow DE Rt. 1 to Rehoboth Beach Ocean Drive (do not turn at signs to Cape Henlopen State Park!) to the traffic circle. Three quarters of the way around the circle, make a right onto Columbia Avenue. Take Columbia Avenue to the end and then make a left onto Surf Avenue. (Follow the brown signs which say Gordon’s Pond State Beach.) Make a right onto Ocean Avenue and follow it to the end at the State Park parking lot. There is no parking fee in February. Carpooling: Meet at the Park ‘N Ride at 273 and Rt. 7 promptly at 8:00 a.m. if you wish to carpool.
