Whitewater PaddlersMinimize

The Whitewater Kayaking group regularly paddles rivers in the Mid-Atlantic Region. We run more than 60 trips during the paddling season which goes from March through November; although a number of hearty individuals paddle year-round, as long as the rivers are ice-free. November through April we adjourn to the Western YMCA for rolling lessons and practice, as well as socializing.

A big event of the paddling year is the annual kayak training course run by our American Canoe Association Certified Kayak Instructors.

Our trips involve Class II to Class V Rivers. We participate in longer multi-day trips to the Youghiogheny and the Lehigh Rivers. Some of our paddlers attend the annual Carolina Canoe Club ‘Week of Rivers’ in western North Carolina as well as Gauley Fest and Stony Fest.
